A Proud Moment: Presenting Georgian Wine to the Asociación de Sumilleres de Aragón

Some invitations carry more weight than others. When we were invited to present our wines to the Asociación de Sumilleres de Aragón, we knew immediately how special this opportunity was. This was not just a tasting  it was a chance to share Georgian wine with one of the most respected sommelier communities in all of Spain.

One of Spain's Most Historic Sommelier Associations

The Asociación de Sumilleres de Aragón was founded in 1994, making it one of the oldest sommelier associations in Spain alongside those of Asturias, Cataluña, and Castilla León. Over its thirty-year history, the association has become a cornerstone of Spanish wine culture, nurturing some of the finest wine professionals the country has ever produced.

A Region That Understands Wine Deeply

Aragón itself is a land of extraordinary wine culture. With four Denominations of Origin — Somontano, Cariñena, Calatayud, and Campo de Borja — and a winemaking tradition stretching back to Roman times, the people of Aragón live and breathe wine. The sommeliers of this region are not simply professionals; they are custodians of a centuries-old relationship between land, grape, and glass.

This is why presenting to them meant so much to us. We were not speaking to casual wine lovers — we were speaking to people with the training, the palate, and the passion to truly understand what Georgian wine represents.

Sharing the World of Georgian Wine

The sommeliers engaged with every detail. Their questions were thoughtful, their observations sharp, and their enthusiasm genuine. There is a particular joy in presenting to professionals of this caliber they catch nuances that others might miss, and their reactions tell you everything. The moment when an experienced sommelier pauses, reflects, and reaches for another glass is a moment we will not forget.

The Pleasure Was Entirely Ours

We often say that every event we attend brings us closer to our mission opening Georgian wine to the world. But evenings like this one remind us that the journey itself is a privilege. Sharing a table with professionals who have dedicated their lives to wine, in a region that has contributed so much to Spanish wine culture, is something we are deeply grateful for.

Our visit to Aragón confirmed once again that the wine world is ready for Georgia. The curiosity is there. The respect for ancient traditions is there. And in the Asociación de Sumilleres de Aragón, we found a community that embodies exactly the kind of deep, passionate wine culture that Georgian wine deserves to be a part of.
