Granada Sommeliers Association Explore the Rich, Uncommon World of Georgian Wine

Our recent trip to Spain took us to the vibrant city of Granada. We were invited by the local Granada sommeliers association to present the full range of our Georgian wines. This visit marked an important step in our mission to connect Georgia’s ancient winemaking traditions with Europe’s passionate wine professionals.

A Unique Invitation From the Granada Sommeliers Association

Being hosted by the sommeliers of Granada, Andalucía, was an honor and a great opportunity. We brought a wide selection of our wines and introduced the group to Georgian grapes, qvevri traditions, and our winemaking philosophy.

The tasting session was interactive and full of curiosity. The sommeliers appreciated our qvevri wines, even though they were drier than what they normally taste in Andalucía. This showed that our Kisi–Chardonnay blend is the perfect way to introduce European palates to amber qvevri wines. They also enjoyed our Bolnisi semi-sweet wine, which complemented the tasting and offered a full view of Georgian wine diversity.

Discovering Granada: Culture, Connections, and Trade Opportunities

We also explored the city and met with local restaurateurs and distributors. Our goal was to understand the market, build strong connections, and open the Georgia–Spain wine trade route. These conversations confirmed something important: there is a real appetite for new regions, flavors, and authentic wine stories. Georgian wine has all of that — and more.

Building Bridges and Overcoming Logistics Together

Networking across Europe shows us the enthusiasm for Georgian wine. Every partnership brings us closer to making our wines accessible in Spain. Expanding internationally comes with challenges — shipping, distribution, and storage. But with the right local and international partners, we are confident in creating a sustainable pathway for Georgian wine.

Looking Ahead

Our visit to Granada confirmed that the wine world is open, diverse, and curious. We are excited to continue this journey, share the heritage of Georgian winemaking, and strengthen our collaboration with the Granada sommelier community and beyond.
